It is with great sadness that we announce that Jackie passed away in July, 2012. Thank you to the many guests and friends who sent well wishes and prayers.Â
Our rates are in US Dollars. No Credit Cards. We accept cash, travelerâ??s checks, or personal checks.
Deposits are $100.00 per person and are non-refundable except with 60 days notice.
It is best to collect the deposit from each member of your party or have them mail a check to me. If you send deposits for other members and they drop out, the forfeiture of the deposit will come out of your pocket.
Let us know as soon as you can if you have a change in the number of people in your party or the number of boats you will need. Chances are we can rent the space or boats to someone else.
If we are not notified you will be charged for the reserved number.
Package Plans: I would like to clarify that the boat rental on your package begins the morning after you check in. For instance, if you are coming for a weekly stay, your package includes 7 nights accommodations and 6 days fishing. If anyone wants to take the boat out on your arrival day after 2:00 pm check-in, there will be a half day rental charge for the boat. ($75.00 plus the cost of gas.)
Three gallons of gas per day are included with the Housekeeping and American Plan packages. Any amount over that will be applied to your bill.
Licenses and Limits
Outdoors card
An outdoors card is required for everyone holding an Ontario fishing license. It is good for 3 years.Â
An 8 day Sportsmanâ??s license This license allows you to have in your possession - 4 Walleyes, 4 Northern, 4 Smallmouth Bass and one Musky (if it is over 54 inches long.) Even then, we recommend that you not keep a trophy Musky but rather take pictures and measure it and have a replica made.) Musky season opens the third Saturday in June.
An 8 day Conservation license This allows you to have 2 of each species in your possession and NO Musky.
Children under 18 years of age do not need a license, but their catch will apply to the limit of the licensed adult in the boat. If you want to take more fish home, then the child should get a license.
In your possession means just that. For example: If you have a Sportsmanâ??s license and you have 4 people in your group with 12 Walleyes in the freezer that are marked for your cabin, you make sure you do not have more than 4 Walleyes in your boat. With the 12 in the freezer and the 4 in your boat, you are now in possession of 16 fish (four fish for each of four people.) Eagle lake also has White fish (very hard to catch) and Sauger. (Sauger applies to the walleye limit.)
Equipment Damage:
Guests are financially responsible for damage to equipment. All Insurance Companies have gone to a minimum of $500.00 deductible on motor damage. (The repair bill on the last lower unit that was damaged was $2700.00.)
Therefore, if you damage the lower unit on a motor, you will be charged the deductible. Prop damage that is repairable will cost $60.00 US and non-repairable will cost $125.00. Damage to the lower unit and props is avoidable. Just go slow in unknown waters. Always use caution, and treat the boat and motor as if it were your own.
GPS:
The only problem with a GPS is people get over confidant. When traveling back to the camp, they often go full throttle and unless they are exactly on the same mark, there is always the possibility of hitting a rock. A lot of our lower unit damage has occurred by guests using a GPS and traveling too fast.
All of the motors that have incurred lower unit damage have happened because of excessive speed.
We have excellent navigational maps that show most of the hazards and John will inform you of those that are not on the map. Speed is the thing that causes the most damage. Guests are responsible for motor damage.
Suggested Lures:
Smallmouth Bass: Shadrap, Rattletraps, Spinners Northern: Daredevils, Rapalas, and Suicks Musky: Buck Tails, Whopper Stopper, or Any Big Northern Lures. Walleye: Jig and Minnow - 1/8 oz â?? ¼ oz .for early spring. The hook on the 1/8 oz jig should be the same size as the ¼ oz. Line should be 6 to 8 lb. test.(John uses plain jigs; ( A lot of guests buy chartreuse color.) Night crawlers may be productive when the water is very warm (July and August), but minnows are still the best. You can still bring crawlers across the border as long as they are in commercial bedding.
